Week 5 in Békéscsaba

Hi!

We were in Szeged on Tuesday and Wednesday for splits with our zone leaders and for interviews. Elder Szuch and I were with elder Elder Smith and our focus was the plan of salvation. We set our table in downtown with the question "What are your goals for life?" and we tried to talk to people about their short- and long-term goals and got a couple of phone numbers and email addresses. A few days later we did the same in Békéscsaba.

This week we had a lesson about the plan of salvation, and our investigator understood it well, and because he loves the scriptures very much, we left him with scriptures that support this plan. We had another program this week and we talked about the general conference.

On Saturday the branch had a bowling activity. The had a nice group and everyone enjoyed it and ir was a lot of fun. Then we went to KFC. It was interesting that this was the first time that some of the Hungarian members went bowling and/or to eat at KFC.

We watched general conference over the weekend. On Saturday night we watched the Saturday morning session. On Sunday we watched the priesthood session as well as the Saturday afternoon and the Sunday morning sessions. Between session we ate Hungarian sandwiches. This coming Sunday we will watch the Sunday afternoon session. I watched all the broadcasts in Hungarian so that I could be with the members of the branch. At the beginning it was a bit difficult because you can hear the English words in the background and the translator often speaks quickly and monotonously, but I got used to it and it went well.

I really liked the general conference. I enjoyed the talks by Elder Stevenson and Elder Zwick. Elder Stevenson said that the lenses of the gospel protect us and we should not allow the tiny and insignificant things in life to prevent us from more important things, as the moon stands before the sun during a solar eclipse. Elder Zwick taught us not to be quick in our judgments, and to always pay attention to the Holy Spirit so that we can look through the eyes of Jesus Christ.

With love,

Elder Gonzalez
