Week 28 in Békéscsaba

Hi!

Winter is over and spring came with temperatures of 15°C and sunshine. The grass starts to get green and there is a fresh smell of spring on the air.

This week was not too busy, that’s why I started this email with the weather haha. We only had one lesson with Tamás, an investigator from our English class, and we talked about the parable of the seed in Alma 32. He said that he wants to be baptized at the beginning of April, so that’s very good news. The rest of our investigators did not have time or were ill, and during transfer weeks we don’t have many programs anyways.

We visited two church members: Kati and Ágit, and made “krumpli fasírt”, which is like hashbrown, but it tastes better and has garlic and egg on it.

The Jenkins (senior couple) came from Eger to do a semiannual audit. Everything was OK and in order. Then they took us to a fancy restaurant where we had good food and carried a nice conversation.

Church was also very good on Sunday. Géza taught during Sunday school. He is a new member and never used to wear a "Sunday dress" but he got a haircut, bought a suit and white shirt, and was very elegant. He did a good job teaching about Abraham.

Our p-day today was also quite good. We went with László to visit some beautiful villages like Vésztő, Békés and Szabadkígyós. He showed us the local attractions, like mines, churches, the castle of Szabadkígyos (I had been there some time ago) and then ate “lángos”. The weather was nice and it was a good trip. And now I'm emailing…

I found a simple but powerful scripture that had an effect on me this week. It is from Philippians 4:13: "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

All the best,

Elder Gonzalez

The weird quad (two of us were doing service, so we didn't have time to change)
