Week 14 in Békéscsaba

Hi!

This week, we focused on the Light the World initiative. We met with a lot of investigators, church members, and with less-active members, and talked to them about the Christmas advent calendar and the initiative. We also stopped people on the street to talk about it.

On Saturday we held the branch Mikulás (Saint Nicholas) party. It was a great success. Lots of kids came, so the mood was very fun. The kids played musical chairs, had a scavenger hunt, and played other Christmas games. The peak was a visit by Mikulás. László was Mikulás and he played this role very well. The kids really liked it.

On Sunday, not to many people came to church because snow was falling and it was very cold, but we still had a very good testimony meeting. The mood was like being in a family, and many members went up to share their testimony and to tell the story of their conversion. It was beautiful and the Holy Spirit was strong.

My spiritual message today is that learning is like a pair of glasses. There are two lenses in a pair of glasses, and so it’s the same with learning. One lens is secular learning and the other is spiritual or gospel learning. With only one lens we can not see much, so it's important to use both lenses if you want to see it clearly. Church members here in Békéscsaba really like this example and they frequently quote it in their talks or testimony. 8-)

Take care and may the Force be with you,

Elder Gonzalez
