Week 10 in Kaposvár

Hi all,

First of all, transfer calls came today! I'm staying in Kaposvár and Elder Phillips will be my new companion. He is from Elder Harris' group. Elder Harris is going to Kispest. I am glad that I can stay here and I think that it is going to be a very good transfer!

We visited Brigi twice this week (she is Évi's mom and Magdus' daughter, I Skyped from their home on Christmas). We helped in their garden. The weather was beautiful, the sun was shining, and it was pleasant to work on this service project. It was a good change from the typical missionary work.
On Friday we went to Szigetvár. We taught our investigator in a library and then he took us around the outside of the castle. Then we got on a bus and headed back to Kaposvár.

The biggest adventure of the week happened on Saturday. I got permission to go to Veszprém to attend the baptism of a married couple whom I began teaching in Pécs with Elder Paul. The Petersons drove us there. We stopped in Székesfehérvár along the way for missionary home inspections. We did not see much, but it seems a nice little city. Then we went to Veszprém. The elders there gave us a tour of the downtown area. We also went to a scenic ookout. Veszprém is a really pretty city. The church has a very nice chapel.

There were three baptisms that day. One young church member baptized his mother, and then President Vasvári baptized Gergely and Babett. They are a very strong family and they were golden investigators. They have two daughters: a six- and a three-year-old. I bore my testimony as one of the speakers. It was so wonderful to see these people whom I started to teach six months ago enter the waters of baptism! When Gergely bore his testimony he said that after the missionaries began teaching him, his life changed. It is such a good feeling to know that I was God's instrument and that through me He could change the life of a whole family!

I gave a talk in church on Sunday in Kaposvár about missionary work (D&C18: 15-16). I talked a lot about my experiences on Saturday and the members enjoyed it. I also started a program where we missionaries send a daily scripture through a text message to members and investigators. It has been very successful in Kaposvár!

Lots of love,

Elder Gonzalez
